BUT NOT FOR ME is the a new ballet created for the MARTHA GRAHAM DANCE COMPANY by choreographer Susan Stroman. The piece, based on music by George Gershwin, was premiered at the Library of Congress Coolidge Auditorium in Washington DC, and performed along with the classic APPALACHIAN SPRING (also by David Agress) for the 50th anniversary of it's premiere at that venue. BUT NOT FOR ME was then performed in Italy, and ultimately presented in New York in February, 1999. The piece has become part of the Martha Graham repertory. .Return to List
